Why Coonhound Woodworks?

We get this question a lot. The answer’s simple: Ruger Deacon Bawler—our rescue pup and the shop’s heartbeat. He’s a full-blooded Black and Tan Coonhound with a nose for trouble and a heart of gold. Naming our shop after him felt right. It reminded us to stay loyal, stay humble, and keep things real.

And because rescue means so much to us, we donate 5% of our proceeds each year to local pet shelters. If you’re ever curious, we’re happy to share ways you can help, too.

Our Guiding Principles

We believe in:

Doing things right,

even if it takes a little longer.

Using real materials

that last, not shortcuts that don’t last.

Crafting with purpose,

whether it’s one piece or one hundred.

Treating people like neighbors

not orders in a queue.

What Makes Our Work Different

We don’t just make wood products—we work with you to build something personal. It’s not about mass production; it’s about meaningful design, honest craftsmanship, and things made to last.

Quality That Lasts

Every cut, corner, and coat of finish is done by hand.

Homegrown Craftsmanship

Built in Georgia. Made for homes like yours.

Honest Materials

We use solid hardwoods, not plywood or shortcuts.

Free Shipping in GA

Orders over $50 ship on us—no surprise costs.

If you value craftsmanship, story, and thoughtful design, you’re in the right place.

Meet the Hands Behind the Craft

We’re Rick and Leslie Rabern—husband and wife, business partners, and full-time wood lovers. Rick runs the tools, Leslie keeps everything on track, and together we make a solid team (even if one of us is covered in sawdust more often than not).

We also work with a small crew of dedicated artisans and apprentices who bring their own flair and experience to every piece. Everyone here cares about the work, the people we make it for, and the stories our wood can tell.
